I started this blog experiment about a year and a half ago and had NO real clue what I was doing. I used a piece of software called DotNetNuke and I was WAY too lazy to work on any sort of design for it and it was just BUTT ugly. I spent a lot of time on posts, but not much time working on the design. I was pretty embarrased with it and it was difficult to use and really fought me every step of the way. The features were incredibly limiting and I just got to the point were I HATED it. I gave up on it for awhile, but kept it up because I figured I would come back to it at some point. Eventually we discovered BlogEngine.net for my company and we used that for a few different blogs and I thought it was fairly nice. It wasn't near as popular as WordPress or some other blogging tools, but it was the only one that I could find that worked in my precious DotNet environment. I am a pretty big Microsoft snob, so I just HAD to use it.
I finally had some spare time in between watching TV shows and staring blankly into space, so I converted my site to the newest version of BlogEngine.net. I was immediately happy with it and continue to be happy with it just by the sheer power and ability to make easy changes to the software.
So, anyway, I've been working on a new design to match my whole Super Mega Dad theme for quite some time. Probably the whole year and a half I've been
doing this. Now, I'm more of a programmer than a graphic designer, so this stuff takes me a LONG time. I'm STILL working on a good design I'll be happy with eventually, but at least I got a few graphics out that I'm happy with. Check out my new improved About page to get an idea of what direction I EVENTUALLY want to take with this whole thing. The three pictures on the bottom are the ones I've been working on here and there and I think they turned out pretty cool. Maybe this will get me motivated to whip something out. I hope you enjoy!
