Ummm, Hi There! It’s been awhile, hasn’t it? Looking at the old blog clock, it looks like it’s been since last October. Yeah, about that, my bad! I’ve dusted this old blog off, updated the software to the newest version to try to get rid of these one hundred plus spam comments I get everyday and I’ve applied a brand new coat of paint. So, if you’ve been with us before, you’ll notice a whole other look to things around here.
So, what happened, Super Mega Dad, you may be asking me? Where the hell have you been? And what’s with this funky new paint job you are shoving down our throats? Well, first off, the easiest answer is that I’ve been very, very lazy regarding my blogging. I have a bunch of stuff on my plate including Super Michael’s TaeKwonDo classes three to four nights a week, wifey being in the hospital for quite awhile, and Princess K being freshly diagnosed with Type 1 Diabetes. Not to mention school, the holidays, I’m old and lazy, among other things. I’m sure I’ll be talking more in depth on a bunch of those things in the future, so I’ll just let them be for now.
Now, regarding the new paint job: I got in a kind of funk with the blog. I just didn’t know where to go with it and it had no real direction. Initially, when I FIRST created it way back in 2007, I wanted to promote another website I maintain, My New Daycare.com, but I just could never figure out how to do that, plus that website is taking care of itself now and does well in traffic. I enjoyed writing here, and I really enjoyed meeting a bunch of people, but I just felt that there was no real direction, purpose, or any real reason for people to come back and read stuff I wrote a year ago. There’s all these articles, and people read them for awhile after they are posted then they just go into a black hole.
With my daughter being diagnosed with Type 1 Diabetes at the beginning of the year I thought about my blog and how I could make it work for me and be a great resource for others and I decided that I wanted to refocus the website to not ONLY be a blog, but a resource for things like parenting and diabetes. Of course I’ll still be writing normal blog posts, but I will also have blog posts that could be a great resource for parents with kids that have diabetes or just general parenting resource and product review type of stuff. With this new layout, I wanted to make it easy for people to find what they are looking for. Looking for the newest blog post? It’s right there on the front page. Looking for diabetes related resources, click on the link. You get the idea.
So, there you have it. A fresh start. Bare with me while I tweak this thing around and get my bearings. This could be an interesting ride!
